The Berwyn Fire Company will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, July 18th at 7:00 p.m. at the fire station located at 23 Bridge Ave. in downtown Berwyn. This is located across from the Goodwill Store located on Lancaster Ave. The purpose of this meeting is to recruit new volunteers. If you, a friend or family member may be interested in how you can volunteer at the fire company, this meeting will answer all your questions. We are in need of Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians, Fire Police and Business members. No experience is necessary as all training will be provided. A more detailed description of these rolls are described below.
As a combination department with both volunteers and career staff, our ability to sustain operations depends highly on volunteers. We are looking for upstanding, dedicated members of our community to join our team.
Our firefighters are trained to perform interior and exterior firefighting, rescue and first aid. They respond to many types of incidents and train throughout the year. Berwyn Fire Company responds to an average of 900 incidents every year, making us one of the busiest departments in Chester County. Active firefighter membership is for 18 years of age or older, however 'school membership' is open to 16 and 17 year olds on a limited basis.
Our Fire Police are trained to provide scene safety for our fire and EMS responders. This is mostly traffic and crowd control at the scene of emergencies. Fire Police respond mostly to fire incidents and also assist at many community events. Fire Police are given authority to act under the provision of the Township and are sworn officers in order to perform for their duties. Fire Police membership is limited to 18 years of age and older due to legal stipulations.
The entire administration of the fire company is made up of volunteers. It takes many dedicated people to make this possible. The fire company will be undertaking many big projects coming up and experienced business professionals can help the fire company succeed.

Our EMS providers are trained to the EMT level and certified by the PA Department of Health to provide emergency medical care to the community on our ambulances. Berwyn EMS responds to over 2,100 emergencies annually and this number is on the rise. Helping the community members from incidents ranging from falls, motor vehicle collisions, strokes, cardiac emergencies and more. Active EMS membership is for 18 years of age and older. However a 'school membership' is also open to 16 and 17 year olds on a limited basis.
