| Station 4 (Malvern) was dispatched at 12:56 a.m. for a reported chimney fire in the unit block of Reeves Way in Willistown Twp. The caller said they had fire in the chimney and smoke was coming into the 1st floor. Chief 4 arrived on scene to find fire showing from around the top of the chimney and in the attic. The call was quickly upgraded to a working dwelling fire response. Rescue 2 responded as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), along with other Fire/EMS resources as part of the working fire assignment. Upon arrival the crew put ground ladders up at the front and rear of the home for firefighter access and egress. The team stoodby and monitored for hazards and kept a watchful eye in case anything went wrong. The Berwyn crew was reassigned a short time later, performing extensive salvage and overhaul on the 1st floor and assisted with final extinguishment. The fire was placed under control at 2:25 a.m. Rescue 2 was clear of the scene an hour later. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Command: Chief 4 (P. Wilkins)
