Just after 4 a.m. on December 3rd, the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched to the area of the Valley Forge Park Covered Bridge in Tredyffrin Township for a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

First arriving units discovered a large SUV in the middle of Valley Creek. After some initial confusion it was determined that the driver was the lone occupant and was able to get to safety on their own power. It was determined that the subject did not require medical transport. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department took the driver into custody for suspicion of drunk driving.

The crew of Berwyn Engine 2-2 remained on location until after 7 a.m. to provide lighting and a hazard standby as tow truck operators worked to remove the car from the water and rocky creek bed.

Berwyn responded with 10 volunteers and 2 paid personnel to this incident.
