| The East Whiteland Volunteer Fire Association, along with mutual aid from the Malvern Fire Company and Paoli Fire Company were dispatched to the 200 block of Lancaster Ave. at the Lincoln Court Shopping Center in East Whiteland Twp. for a building fire at 1:39 a.m. First arriving units found heavy smoke showing from the roof of a 1 story strip mall. Additional assistance was called from nearby fire companies due to the size of the building and unknown extent of the fire. Berwyn responded with 15 volunteers and 2 paid personnel on Tower 2, Engine 2-2 and Engine 2-3 to provide support. Upon arrival Berwyn split crews into a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and fireground support. Berwyn personnel were released from the fire scene just before 4 a.m. The Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company covered the Berwyn district during the fire. There were no reported firefighter or civilain injuries. The bulk of the fire was contained to one business, but several other stores suffered smoke damage. The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office in conjunction with the East Whiteland Twp. Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. |
