Berwyn's Paramedic Engine 2-3 was returning to the station from a residential fire alarm call when they were dispatched at 12:32 a.m. to assist the Radnor Fire Company for a motor vehicle collision involving fire and ejection at the intersection of Upper Gulph Rd. and Fletcher Rd. in Tredyffrin Township. A few minutes after responding, Radnor Chief Michael Maguire requested an Ambulance response from Berwyn as well.

Once on scene, the crew from Engine 2-3 split up their personnel to assist Radnor crews with both fire suppression of the vehicle fire and patient care of the second victim at the scene. Engine 2-3 is a fully licensed Paramedic responder and with the on duty Medic aboard, treatment was rapidly provided at an advanced level of care for the second victim.

Ambulance 2-2 arrived a short time later to transport Engine 2-3's patient to the landing zone that had been established nearby for both patients. Both victims were transported by helicopter to area trauma centers for treatment of their injuries.

Berwyn Fire and EMS units were clear of the scene by approximately 1:30 a.m., while Traffic 2 stayed on scene for another hour to keep the road closed for the Tredyffrin Township Police Department while they investigated the crash.
