Students at Beaumont Elementary School saluted and serenaded first responders of the Berwyn Fire Company and Easttown Police Dept. in a special Heroes Assembly Tuesday in the school cafeteria. They also presented each organization with big checks as a "thank you" gift.

The students raised over $1,000 by collecting change and doing chores and good deeds to earn money in a four day fundraising drive inspired by the national Martin Luther King Day of Service on January 21. A little extra donation from the Beaumont Home and School Association rounded the total up to $1,500. On Tuesday the HSA on behalf of the students and school community donated $750 each to the Berwyn Fire Company and the Easttown Police Department.

The students presented handmade "thank you" posters and cards to the firefighter and officers, sang "Ain't no high enough, ain't no valley low enough to keep from getting to you," read a list of "did you know?" facts about police and fire fighters and presented a video about who their real life heroes are.
