Just after shift change on February 22nd, Berwyn's ambulance and medic were dispatched to a residence on Dickinson Road, in Chesterbrook, for a woman in labor. As pre-hospital deliveries are not ideal, the crew planned for a quick on-scene time to ensure rapid transport to the closest hospital's labor & delivery unit.

Once on scene, Berwyn's crew quickly realized that delivery was imminent and the area around the patient was prepared for a pre-hospital delivery. After a little coaching and a few pushes, a healthy seven pound baby girl entered the world! A second medic unit from Berwyn had responded just after initial dispatch and assisted with the delivery. The happy mom and her new baby were then transported to Paoli Hospital's labor & delivery unit. Both mom and baby Brooklyn are currently back home and doing well!

As pre-hospital deliveries are quite rare, Action News decided to cover this unique story. A link to the news story is below. Congratulations to mom and her new baby! Berwyn Fire Company wishes you many years of happiness together!
