| The Berwyn Fire Company, along with mutual aid assistance from the Paoli and Newtown Square fire companies, was dispatched at 6:26 a.m. to the 1300 block of South Leopard Rd. in Easttown Township for a house fire. Berwyn Engine 2-3 arrived first on scene at 6:33 a.m. and reported smoke showing from the 1st floor and roof of a 2 story single family home. Firefighters were able to locate the fire quickly in a crawl space underneath the house. The fire was placed under control by 6:45 a.m. There was no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. The home was spared major damage due to the combination of a rapid fire company response and the homeowners having working smoke detectors. Final fire crews cleared the scene before 8 a.m. The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office investigated the cause of the blaze and traced the origin of the fire back to a dehumidifier unit. |
