| On the evening of Wednesday, March 6, 2013, four members of the Berwyn Fire Company departed the station bound for the EMS Today Conference in Washington, D.C. The annual conference, held by the Journal of Emergency Medical Service (JEMS) and PennWell, brings together EMS professionals from all over the world. This year, Berwyn Career Firefighter/Paramedic John Ardiff, Firefighter/EMT Josh Lichman, EMS Lieutenant Scott Kramer, and Lieutenant Matt Valocchi signed up to attend. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for Berwyn's personnel to listen to continuing education lectures on a variety of topics, view all of the latest EMS products at an exhibit hall filled with over 100 suppliers and network with hundreds of EMS professionals. The emergency medical service field is constantly evolving, with new treatment guidelines and products based on clinical research that improve the quality of care and lead to better outcomes for patients. For the members that attended the conference, they have returned to Berwyn with a solid understanding of the latest updates in patient care and ideas for new products that will increase the quality of care the Berwyn Fire Company can provide to the community. As seen in the pictures below, the members took some time to explore the nation's capital. Fortunately, there was not a touch of snow on the ground and the beautiful weather made for some excellent sightseeing opportunities. |
