| Earlier this year Berwyn Fire Company placed an order with Seagrave Fire Apparatus through the local dealer 10-8 Fire Equipment for a 2013 Marauder II Class A Fire Engine. Seagrave prefers to build their fire apparatus from stainless steel instead of the more common aluminium. The stainless steel combined with their unique manufacturing process allows their trucks to have a longer service life than most, which is why many of large city fire departments use Seagrave including FDNY. This truck will be set up and equipped identically to our current Engine 2-3 and will rotate with that truck as the First Due engine to all residential and commercial fires and hazards. Rotating the trucks increases the service life of both units by lowering the overall maintenance and repair costs over the life of the truck. The new truck will be delivered in early fall of this year and will replace the old 1983 E-One engine that was recently donated to West Volunteer Fire Department after the tragic loss of 5 members and their entire fleet of fire apparatus due to an explosion at a fertilizer plant. When placed in service, the truck will inherit the designation Engine 2-1 |
