| The Radnor Fire Company, along with mutual aid from Newtown Square, Broomall, and Berwyn, was dispatched to the 600 block of Darby Paoli Rd. in Radnor Township for a building fire at 12:50 a.m. First arriving units encountered a large detached garage and two automobiles on fire. The crews of Berwyn Engine 2-3 and Tower 2 assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Due the distance of the property to the closet fire hydrant, firefighters had to utilize nearly 3,000' of hose to get additional water to extinguish the blaze. This also required the dispatch of several water tankers to ensure there was sufficient water. The Radnor Township Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. The garage was destroyed, while radiant heat from the fire caused minor damage to the main home and guest house on the property. There was no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. All Berwyn units were clear of the scene by 4 a.m. *Photo courtesy of Radnor Fire Company* |
