The Radnor Fire Company was dispatched just before 1 a.m. to the 200 block of St. Davids Court in Radnor Township for a reported house fire. Berwyn firefighters were also summoned to the scene on the initial alarm.

First arriving fire crews encountered heavy smoke showing from a two story single family dwelling. A 2nd alarm was requested by Radnor Chief Michael Maguire, which brought aid from neighboring units. It took firefighters about an hour to gain control of the fire that spread through walls and eventually into the attic space.

Two occupants and a dog, who were home when the fire started, were able to safely escape the flames.

The Radnor Twp. Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire that originated in the 1st floor of the residence. There was no reported firefighter injuries, despite icy conditions around the scene.

Berwyn responded with Engine 2-3 and Ambulance 2-1 to this incident with 9 volunteers and 2 paid personnel. Berwyn units cleared the scene before 4 a.m.
