This past weekend, seven members of the Berwyn Fire Company participated in an Ice Rescue course to become certified in Ice Rescue. The course, which combined members of Berwyn and the Fame Fire Company (West Chester), taught students various techniques in rescuing victims who had fallen through or become trapped on frozen bodies of water.

This training is part of Berwyn's initiative to become proficient in all facets of water rescue in order to better serve our residents. Tredyffrin and Easttown have various bodies of water (for example Wilson Farm Park, Westlakes Quarry and Leopard Lakes) which have the potential to require either ice or water rescues.

Berwyn's leadership and membership recognize that these hazards are present and are being proactive in meeting the needs of our residents. Great job to the crew who braved the cold this past weekend!
