Berwyn Firefighter/EMT Elizabeth Schew Recognized for Excellence

Berwyn Firefighter/EMT Elizabeth 'Liz' Schew was recognized by the University of New Haven for her accomplishments in the Fire Science Program. Schew received the Fire Science Distinguished Service Award, which is given to a fire science student who has demonstrated a significant contribution to fire science academically and outside of the classroom.

Schew graduated this past Sunday, May 17, 2015, with a BS Fire Science in Fire Service Administration and BS Fire Science in Fire/Arson Investigation, along with a minor in Criminal Justice. Schew maintained Dean's List status during her entire collegiate experience and was an active member of the Fire Science Club.

Schew has been a member with the Berwyn Fire Company since 2009 and is a state certified EMT and firefighter. Schew also volunteered with the Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company (CT) while at school. While at school, she also worked part-time and per-diem for three different dispatch centers to pay her way through school.

Schew is a past recipient of the Main Line Chamber Foundation Hometown Heroes Award in 2011 and 2012 and was honored with the Main Line Chamber Foundation Thomas J. Hays Memorial Scholarship in 2014.
