EASTTOWN TWP. - On October 12th 2010 at 12:38 pm the Berwyn Fire Company, along with mutual aid units from the Paoli and Radnor fire companies were dispatched to the 700 block of First Ave. for a house fire.

The crews of Engine 2-2 and Engine 2-1 arrived to find smoke coming from the house. Despite intense flames and smoke in the kitchen area, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly preventing it from damaging the rest of the home. The lone occupant in the residence was able to safely evacuate and activate 9-1-1 to report the fire.

The Chester County Fire Marshal determined the fire to be accidental. There were no reported firefighter injuries. However, the resident who reported the fire was taken to a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

For additional information contact Brendan Brazunas, Assistant Chief, at the fire station at 610-644-6050 ext. 22.
