Just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, a resident of Iroquois Court in the Chesterbrook section of Tredyffrin Township was alerted by a smoke detector and found smoke in their basement. The resident evacuated and called 9-1-1. Berwyn Fire Company along with automatic mutual aid from Paoli Fire Company and Malvern Fire Company were alerted for the possible house fire.

Berwyn Assistant Chief Valocchi arrived on scene within 4 minutes of dispatch and found a moderate smoke condition in the residence. As units arrived and further investigated, it was found that an area of mulch up against the building was burning and beginning to burn the outside of the building. The fire was immediately extinguished and crews spent 30 minutes checking to make sure no fire extended into the building and clear smoke out of the residence.
