Tredyffrin Building Fire Causes $60,000 in Damage

The Berwyn Fire Company, along with mutual aid assistance from Radnor and Paoli fire companies, was dispatched at 9:27 a.m. to the 600 block of West Lancaster Avenue in Tredyffrin Township for a building fire.

Berwyn Engine 2-1 arrived on location and reported a two-story office building with a smoke condition on the 1st and 2nd floors. The fire was located in an office on the 1st floor. Berwyn, Paoli, Radnor, and Newtown Square personnel worked together to extinguish the fire and limit major damage to the building. The fire was placed under control at 10:14 a.m.

The westbound lanes of Lancaster Avenue were closed between Sugartown Road and Berkley Road for the duration of the incident. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided traffic control, along with fire police from responding fire companies.

The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office investigated the cause of the fire and determined it to be electrical in nature. Total smoke and fire damage was estimated at $60,000. No first responder or civilian injuries occurred during this incident. All units were clear of the scene by 11:55 a.m.
