On Saturday, October 29th, Berwyn Fire Company was invited to join the Collegeville Fire Company and its mutual aid providers to honor Doug Miller. Doug was a life member at both Collegeville and Berwyn. He devoted his life to serving the communities that he lived in. Even after Doug and his family left the Berwyn area to move to Collegeville, he would often return to visit and spend some time around the backroom table. Doug will be sorely missed by Berwyn and Collegeville. In a nice touch to the day, current Berwyn Assistant Chief Matthew Norris drove Berwyn's Tower to the ceremonies. Assistant Chief Norris is a life member at Berwyn and former volunteer at Collegeville (during his days at Ursinus College) and current Berwyn and Collegeville volunteer Andy Ritter participated (a current Ursinus student). The ties between the two companies run deep.

Doug also has a number of family members who continue to serve in the fire service including his nephews Vince (a life member at Berwyn) and Dan (a member at Linfield). It was an honor for our volunteers to participate in this weekend's services. Thank you to our brothers and sisters at Collegeville for their hospitality, Trappe Fire Company for working with Tower 2 to provide a fitting final ride for Doug and Doug's family and friends. You will not be forgotten Doug!
