On February 23, 2017 at 2:02 p.m., the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched to the intersection of South Fairfield Road and Sugartown Road in Easttown Township for a motor vehicle collision. This intersection is located adjacent to the Devon Elementary School. The initial calls to 9-1-1 reported a driver was trapped in their vehicle.

The crews of Engine 2-2 and Ambulance 2-2 arrived to find a two-vehicle crash, with one vehicle on its side. Rescuers worked to stabilize the vehicle and then remove the roof to access the victim. At the same time, the driver of the other vehicle was being evaluated for injuries.

The Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to assist with an ambulance, since Berwyn's other ambulance was already handling a separate medical emergency in Tredyffrin Township.

Both drivers were transported to Paoli Hospital by Berwyn and Radnor ambulance. The Easttown Township Police Department provided traffic control during the incident. All units were clear of the scene before 3:30 p.m.
