Over the past couple of weeks the Berwyn Fire Company has received questions from residents about an unidentified group that is performing a telemarketing fundraising effort that supposedly benefits volunteer fire companies in the area. We are unaware of any such campaign and believe this is a scam. Our fundraising efforts come in the form of a direct mail campaign via our annual fire/EMS fund drive, annual Turkey Raffle mailer and through special events. We depend greatly on the generosity of the residents and business owners in Tredyffrin Township and Easttown We have alerted the Chester County Fire Chiefs Association about this problem. They are aware of it and are working with law enforcement officials to gather more details about who this group is associated with. If you receive a call asking for money to 'support your local fire company' we strongly recommend that you do not provide any information to the caller. Our T-E neighbors are encouraged to contact the Tredyffrin Township Police Department or the Easttown Township Police Department if you feel you are being scammed. |
