TREDYFFRIN TWP., PA - On Monday, March 5th at 8:44 p.m., the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched to a building fire at the West Valley Business Center in the 900 block of West Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township. Automatic mutual aid was also requested from the Radnor Fire Company, King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company., and Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company due to the nature of the incident.

An alert PECO employee, who was working in the complex due to the recent winter storm, noticed smoke in the building and called 9-1-1.

Berwyn Engine 2-3 arrived on scene at 8:51 p.m. with smoke showing from a single story office building. Firefighters from all the companies involved worked as a team to contain the fire, while PECO worked to secure the electric to the building. Final units cleared the incident scene by 11:30 p.m.

The Chester County Fire Marshals Office ruled the cause of the fire as electrical in nature. The total damage to the building and contents is estimated at $600,000. One firefighter suffered a minor hand injury, but did not require transport to the hospital.

Thank you to the Officers of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department who assisted with pulling several hundred feet of fire hose as crews prepared to enter the structure. And special thanks to the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, who share a nearby building, for letting first responders warm-up and also use their bathrooms during a cold night.
