Berwyn firefighters respond to 2-alarm fire & handle brush fire

BERWYN, PA - Berwyn firefighters assisted the Norristown Fire Department with a 2nd alarm house fire in the unit block of Fornance Street at 6:59 p.m. The crew stood by as one of the rapid intervention teams and was released from the scene shortly thereafter.

While returning on Rt. 202 in Tredyffrin Township, Berwyn Engine 2-1 noticed a brush fire on the northbound on ramp to the highway near West Valley Road. Firefighters handled the fire quickly and returned to the firehouse before 8:15 p.m. The on ramp was briefly shut down by the Tredyffrin Township Police Department to provide for the safety of first responders.

As of 9 p.m. today, volunteers and career staff have handled 8 fire / EMS calls.
