TREDYFFRIN TWP., PA - On Friday, June 22, 2018, the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 6:47 p.m. for an electrical fire inside a residence in the 1200 block of Muhlenburg Drive in Tredyffrin Township. The crews of Berwyn Engine 2-2 and Tower 2 responded from a community event in Wilson Farm Park, along with Ambulance 2-2 from the PECO fire/EMS substation. The Paoli Fire Company was also added to the response as they were also attending the same community event with their ladder truck.

First arriving units encountered smoke showing from a single family residence with all occupants safely evacuated. The incident was upgraded to a house fire response, which brought additional resources from the Valley Forge and King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Companies to the scene. Firefighters quickly deployed hoselines to contain the fire that had started in the basement. The fire was placed under control by Berwyn Chief Eamon Brazunas at 7:18 p.m.

The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office investigated and ruled the fire accidental. The total fire loss was estimated at $115,000. There was no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. All fire/EMS units cleared the scene before 9:00 p.m.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department assisted with traffic and scene control. PECO also responded and ensured the power was secured to the residence and area homes.

This fire was a great example of the regional coordination that occurs during incidents such as this. Strong teamwork and a quick response limited damage to the residence and most importantly no one was injured.
