TREDYFFRIN TWP., PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched to the eastbound direction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the area of the Valley Forge Service Plaza in Tredyffrin Township for a motor vehicle collision at 8:10 a.m. The initial 9-1-1 reports indicated the driver was possibly trapped in a car that had flipped over.

First arriving units were met with a single vehicle that had left the eastbound lanes of the highway and had overturned in the service plaza driveway. Prior to arrival of first responders, Good Samaritans were able to remove the driver and began administering lifesaving CPR measures.

Berwyn EMS transported the driver with life threatening injuries to Paoli Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. All Berwyn fire/EMS units cleared the incident scene by 9:00 a.m.

The Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation and provided traffic control. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department also responded to the scene to lend assistance.

The Berwyn Fire Company sends it thoughts and prayers to those affected by this tragic accident. The civilians and the off-duty Paramedic that jumped right in to help right after the crash occurred should be commended for their actions.
