TREDYFFRIN TWP., PA – The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched, at 8:52 a.m. on February 28th, to the 900 block of N. Valley Forge Road in the Devon section of Tredyffrin Township for a residential rescue. The initial 9-1-1 caller reported several roof trusses had fallen onto a worker in a new home under construction.

Fire/EMS personnel arrived to find the worker free from under the trusses that fell, but still needed to be removed off wooden support beams to the 2nd floor. Once removed from the roof area, first responders worked quickly to care for the seriously injured subject.

The other workers on the site assisted rescuers by placing sheets of plywood to create a path from the home to the awaiting ambulance. Due to the muddy and uneven conditions in the front yard this made it safer to move the injured worker.

The injured construction worker was transported by Berwyn ambulance to Paoli Hospital with serious injuries. All units cleared the scene before 10 a.m. Traffic was restricted to one lane as emergency vehicles lined the street. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department also responded and assisted with moving medical equipment and scene control.
