TREDYFFRIN TWP., PA - On Saturday, June 29, 2019, the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 9:21 p.m. for a house fire in the 800 block of Devon State Rd. in the Devon section of Tredyffrin Township. Automatic mutual aid assistance from the Radnor Fire Company was also alerted to respond.

The crew of Berwyn Engine 2-1 arrived on scene at 9:26 p.m. with fire inside a single family residence. The homeowners had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of first responders. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire and also removed smoke from the home with fans. The fire was placed under control by Berwyn Chief Eamon Brazunas at 9:56 p.m.

PECO electric crews responded due to downed wires between Devon State Rd. and Berwyn Baptist Rd., which is believed to have contributed to the start of the fire. In coordination with PECO, firefighters checked homes in the immediate area for any electrical problems. It was discovered that two homes on nearby Devonshire Rd. were impacted by the downed power lines, but fortunately did not incur any significant damage.

The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office investigated and ruled the fire accidental. The total fire loss was estimated at $70,000. There was no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. All fire/EMS units cleared the scene by 12 Midnight.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department assisted with closing Devon State Rd. between Berwyn Baptist Rd. and Valley Forge Rd. The Gladwyne Fire Company (Air 24) also assisted at this incident.

A special thanks to the crews of Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company (Engine 68-1) and Good Fellowship Ambulance - West Chester (MICU 55) for providing a standby in the event of other incidents occurring in the T-E community.
