BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched on Friday, July 19th at 2:08 p.m. to the area of S. Waterloo Rd. and Lancaster Ave. in the Devon section of Easttown Township for a motor vehicle collision.
First arriving fire and EMS crews were met with a two-vehicle crash involving multiple injured subjects. The Easttown Township Police Department provided traffic control as this is one of the busier intersections near the popular Devon Yard.
Firefighters with Berwyn Engine 2-2 assisted with patient care, swept up debris in the roadway, and put down absorbent material due to an oil leak from one of the cars involved. Both of Berwyn's EMS crews tended to the injured and also called for additional ambulances to respond based on the number of injuries.
The Radnor Fire Company, Paoli Fire Company, and Malvern Fire Company each responded with an ambulance to assist with transporting patients to Paoli Hospital. A total of 4 patients were transported to the hospital and an additional subject was evaluated, but declined medical services.
The crash scene was cleared and all lanes of traffic were reopened before 3 p.m. Berwyn firefighters handled a fire alarm activation on Steeplechase Rd. in Tredyffrin at 2:29 p.m. after assisting at this incident.
Prior to this call, Berwyn EMS had responded to the Southeastern Postal Facility in Tredyffrin at 1:26 p.m. and also to the Recovery Centers of America in Easttown at 1:32 p.m. for advanced life support level calls. |
