BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched on Monday, August 5th at 11:14 a.m. to the 200 block of South Fairfield Road in the Devon section of Easttown Township for an injured subject. The initial 9-1-1 information from the Chester County Department of Emergency Services indicated a worker had fallen an estimated 40 feet from a bucket truck and was stuck underneath it.

Berwyn rescuers arrived on location with a bucket truck tipped over into power lines. The EMS crew quickly assessed the scene and removed the injured worker to the stretcher. Due to the possibility of the truck being electrified or the power lines coming down there was no time to waste.

South Fairfield Road was closed between Berkley Road and Chester Road during the incident. Firefighters also checked nearby homes for any potential electrical issues caused by the truck striking the power lines. PECO, Abel Brothers Towing & Automotive, and John B. Ward & Company Arborists worked in tandem to get the bucket truck removed from its precarious position.

The worker was transported by ambulance to Paoli Hospital under advanced life support care. The incident scene was cleared by 1:30 p.m. The Easttown Township Police Department was on location and provided scene control.
