| On Thursday, December 16th, the Radnor Fire Company, along with the Berwyn Fire Company for an Engine was called to the 500 block of N. Wayne Ave. for a house fire just before 4 p.m. First arriving units encountered smoke and fire in a room on the 1st floor of a large single family home. While the crews from Radnor began extinguishing the fire, the firefighters from Berwyn Engine 2-3 hooked into a nearby fire hydrant to supply additional water to suppress the fire if needed. The fire was placed under control in less than 15 minutes from the time of dispatch. The Berwyn crew assisted with checking for fire extension and with salvage of items in the room where the fire occurred. There was no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. The fire was determined to be accidental and is under investigation by the Radnor Township Fire Marshal. N. Wayne Ave. was closed between Woodsworth Ct. and Eagle Rd. for about an hour as firefighters operated at the scene. |
