BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched on Sunday, December 29th at 2:55 a.m. to the area of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Valley Forge Service Plaza (PAVFSP) in Tredyffrin Township for a motor vehicle collision.

Berwyn Chief 2 arrived and found a sport utility vehicle that had rolled over multiple times that resulted in the driver being ejected into the roadway.

Firefighters with Berwyn Engine 2-2 assisted with patient care, swept up debris, and put down absorbent material due to an oil leak from the heavily damaged vehicle. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department also responded and assisted with securing the scene.

The driver was transported by Berwyn ambulance under advanced life support care to Paoli Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The Pennsylvania State Police investigated the cause of the collision. The access to the PAVFSP was restricted until 4:15 a.m.

This was one of 11 calls handled by volunteers and career staff during a steady Sunday in the T-E community. This was also the 1,000 fire response logged for the Berwyn Fire Company in 2019.
