BERWYN, PA - On Tuesday, April 14th, the volunteers and career staff at the Berwyn Fire Company responded to 12 fire/EMS calls.

This included a mutual aid call supporting Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS around 9 a.m. The crew of Berwyn Engine 2-2 assisted with extinguishment of an electrical transformer that had exploded near a strip mall. Meanwhile Berwyn EMS handled a pair of medical emergencies in Tredyffrin Township and Easttown Township before 12 Noon.

With the exception of the mutual aid response, a total of 11 incidents were handled in the T-E community. There were also 4 overlapping call situations, along with 4 patient contacts of suspected COVID-19 illness.

On the project front, FF/Medic Thomas Dorley was back at it again installing a special containment barrier for each of the ambulance stretchers. This will be a great help when crews encounter a patient that can’t tolerate a mask. It will also further reduce exposure to COVID-19 when a patient is symptomatic. Thanks to EMS Captain Michael Baskin, ALS Coordinator Todd Taylor and FF Eric Javie for assisting with this project.
