BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 11:58 a.m. today to the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue in Easttown Township for smoke coming from the roof of a building.

The crews of Berwyn Engine 2-3 and Engine 2-2 arrived on scene and located an oven fire inside a restaurant in the Berwyn Shopping Center. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with an extinguisher, while a crew from Radnor Fire Company checked the roof to ensure the fire didn't extend into the kitchen exhaust system. Fortunately the fire was contained to just the one oven unit.

Thank you to the staff at Veekoo Asian Cuisine for their cooperation and for working with the Chester County Health Department to get the kitchen cleaned up and back in service already. This restaurant is a local favorite for many T-E residents. Please consider ordering takeout from them as they continue to deal with the financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with other restaurants throughout the nation.

After handling this call, Berwyn fire and EMS crews responded at 12:33 p.m. to the Chesterbrook section of Tredyffrin Township for a medical emergency. A total of 9 fire/EMS calls have been responded to by volunteers and career staff today.
