Remnants of Tropical Storm Fred Causes Flash Flooding in T-E

BERWYN, PA - As you hit the roads this morning, you will more than likely encounter debris on numerous state and local roads as a result of the flash flooding that occurred overnight. This was a short duration storm, but it delivered several inches of rainfall creating many safety issues.

Personnel from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Tredyffrin Township Public Works Department, and Easttown Township Public Works Department are working hard to clear tree limbs, stones, dirt, and other debris as quickly as possible. Please take it slow and don’t pass any cones or traffic barricades!

Between 12:31 a.m. and 3:52 a.m. today, volunteers and career staff responded to 14 calls. With the exception of a mutual aid response to Radnor Township for a house fire, all other calls occurred in the T/E community. This included several water rescues, multiple residential flood damage investigations, a house fire, a fire alarm, and a couple medical emergencies.

If at any time you smell natural gas, see downed power lines on fire or arching, or suspect an unsafe electric or natural gas condition; please leave the area immediately and then call 9-1-1 and PECO at 1-800-841-4141. DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 to tell them your power is out. This is not an emergency.
