BERWYN, PA - A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for our area due to the impending rainfall from the remnant low of Ida. We expect to see significant rainfall as this storm makes it way through the area tomorrow afternoon through early Thursday. Please keep an eye on the forecast.

A few items to start taking care of before the rain occurs this week:

1.) Check your flashlights and portable phone chargers.
2.) Check your portable or pad mounted home generator for proper operation.
3.) Make plans to move cars or other important items to a safe location if you live in a flood prone area.
4.) If you see debris blocking a storm drain, you can report that to your local municipality. If it is determined a problem drain is on a State roadway, that municipality will make contact with PennDOT to address it.

Flood Safety

The Berwyn Fire Company strongly encourages that if you can't see the road in front of you due to flooding conditions, "Turn around, don't drown!" You need to seek high ground and wait to drive your car, or you will risk getting trapped in swift water. It only takes 6 inches of swift moving water to knock you off of your feet. 12 inches of moving water can sweep your vehicle off of the road. The impact of floodwaters are often underestimated by motorists and pedestrians.

Downed Power Lines & Power Outage Information

If at any time you see downed power lines on fire or arching, or suspect an unsafe electric condition; please avoid the area immediately and then call 9-1-1 and PECO at 1-800-841-4141. DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 to tell them your power is out. This is not an emergency.

Debris or Trees Blocking Roadways

If you see any remaining trees or debris impeding roadways, please contact Tredyffrin Township at 610-408-3620 or Easttown at 610-687-3000.

Hopefully we don’t see much out of this, but we must be prepared! Please watch our website and Facebook page for further updates.
