Firefighters Respond to Glenhardie Condos Fire

BERWYN, PA - Earlier this morning at 6:28 a.m., the Berwyn Fire Company, along with automatic mutual aid from Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS, Radnor Fire Company, Paoli Fire Company and Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. were dispatched to the Glenhardie Condominiums Hancock Building on Drummers Ln. in Tredyffrin Township for an apartment fire.

Initial crews arrived with smoke showing from a 1st floor unit. As firefighters from Upper Merion Engine 56 prepared to extinguish the fire, Berwyn firefighters and Tredyffrin Township Police Department (TTPD) Officers evacuated residents from all 3 floors of the building. Berwyn Engine 2–1 laid several hundred feet of hose from a nearby fire hydrant, while Berwyn Engine 2-3 and Paoli Tower 3 assisted with smoke removal and overhaul. Radnor Quint 15 also provided fans for smoke removal.

The fire was placed under control prior to 7 a.m. The TTPD and the Chester County Department of Emergency Services Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

There were no reported first responder or civilian injuries.

The Jefferson Fire Company No. 1 also assisted with their air truck to refill self-contained breathing apparatus.
