BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 3:28 a.m. to Rt. 422 Eastbound in the area of the PA Turnpike underpass in Tredyffrin Township for a motor vehicle collision. Due to the call possibly being further down the highway into Montgomery County, resources from Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS were also dispatched.

First responders arrived with a two-vehicle crash blocking the roadway. One of the drivers was found laying outside of their vehicle, while the other driver was fatally injured. The location of the incident was also updated to Rt. 422 Westbound between the PA Turnpike underpass and First Avenue.

One subject was transported by ambulance to Paoli Hospital in stable condition.

Berwyn firefighters provided scene lighting, extrication and cleaned up debris from the highway. The scene was cleared just before 10 a.m.

The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the collision. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department and PennDOT assisted with traffic control.
