BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company (BFC) was recently awarded a $15,000 grant by the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).

This is the 2nd consecutive year that this critical funding was obtained under the Construction Savings Account category as BFC gets close to beginning construction on a new main fire/EMS station.

Every dollar that is obtained by BFC through grants, fundraising and support from Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships will assist with paying for the construction of the new station in the heart of Berwyn. This effort will result in replacing the existing station that was built in 1929 — 94 years ago!

This funding was made possible by the OSFC Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, which makes an annual grant program available for volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads. The program provides grant eligibility information and makes an online grant application available for all eligible applicants.

Based on applicant and project criteria, OSFC staff reviews and approves or disapproves all applications, processes signed grant agreements, and authorizes dispersal of grant funds. Final grant reports are reviewed for compliance with project description and program guidelines.
