Car Crashes Into Pole, Catches Fire In Easttown Twp.

BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 5:04 a.m. to the area of Berkley Rd. and Waterloo Rd. in Easttown Township for a motor vehicle collision involving fire.

The initial crew of Engine 2-2 and Battalion 2 arrived with a car into a utility pole engulfed in flames. The driver was able to quickly get out after the crash. The fire was also impinging on overhead power and cable lines.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before more issues arose due to the proximity to the power lines and utility pole. PECO and cable providers were notified to respond due to damage to their equipment.

Berkley Rd. was closed between Waterloo Rd. and S. Fairfield Rd. during the incident. The Easttown Township Police Department investigated the cause of the collision and provided scene control. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department also assisted.

Fortunately the driver and lone occupant was uninjured. All emergency units and personnel cleared the scene by 7 a.m.
