BERWYN, PA - On Tuesday, April 22nd at 5:37 p.m., the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched to the 500 block of Barton Lane in Tredyffrin Township for a house fire with reported entrapment.

Berwyn Chief 2 arrived with flames showing from the front of the residence with all occupants accounted for outside. A total of two subjects were transported by Berwyn and Paoli ambulance to Paoli Hospital.

Mutual aid from the Radnor Fire Company, Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co., Paoli Fire Company EMS, Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company (air truck), Tredyffrin Township Police Department, Tredyffrin Township Fire Marshal, and the Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office operated on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and is accidental in nature. All fire/EMS personnel were clear of the scene before 8:30 p.m., while investigators remained.

During this incident, the Paoli Fire Company and Newtown Square Fire Company covered a large dumpster fire in the 200 block of W. Swedesford Road in Tredyffrin Township at 5:52 p.m. The Tredyffrin Township Public Works Department brought a backhoe loader to assist with pulling apart the dense materials that were burning.

This fire incident was a great example of regional coordination between multiple agencies in handling the fire, getting injured residents to the hospital under Advanced Life Support care and dealing with simultaneous fire/EMS incidents. The Chester County Department of Emergency Services 9-1-1 Center did an excellent job in keeping everything organized to ensure the best possible outcomes in the field.
