BERWYN, PA - The career staff and volunteers of the Berwyn Fire Company responded to 17 fire/EMS calls during the 24-hour period on Tuesday, April 29th.

All of these incidents occurred in the T-E community with 6 calls in Easttown Township and 11 calls in Tredyffrin Township. This included two serious motor vehicle collisions and an aeromedical flight for an injured subject that required special medical care.

Fire/EMS crews were dispatched at 6:49 a.m. to the area of Lancaster Ave. and Meadowbrook Rd. in the Devon section of Tredyffrin Township for a motor vehicle collision. Rescuers had to extricate a driver after their car was struck by a box truck. They were safely removed and transported by Berwyn EMS to Paoli Hospital with serious injuries.

During the day, a patient from PennMedicine Valley Forge was found to have suffered significant injuries requiring special medical attention. As Berwyn EMS was tending to the patient, firefighters secured a landing zone at the nearby PECO facility helipad for JeffSTAT.

During the evening rush, crews were dispatched at 5:40 p.m. to the 700 block of Waterloo Rd. in Easttown Township for a vehicle overturned into a telephone pole. First arriving crews assisted the driver out of their vehicle. Fortunately the driver escaped major injury and did not require transport to the hospital. Firefighters remained on the scene for traffic control and debris cleanup. PECO was notified to respond due to the damaged telephone pole and electrical wires involved.

Radnor Fire Company EMS covered a medical call at Brightview Senior Living in Tredyffrin Township as crews were operating at the crash on Waterloo Rd.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department and Easttown Township Police Department assisted at multiple incidents throughout the day.

The Chester County Department of Emergency Services 9-1-1 Center did an excellent job of keeping things organized during a busy day throughout the County.
