| BERWYN, PA - A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for our area, Saturday, January 24th 7 p.m. to Monday, January 26th at 1 p.m., as Winter Storm Fern approaches bringing with it heavy snow and mixed precipitation. Total snow accumulations between 8-12 inches and ice accumulations around three tenths of an inch are expected. Locally heavier amounts of snow are possible. In addition to the snow and ice, temperatures will remain well below freezing with winds from the northeast at 10-15 mph. Please avoid unnecessary travel and if you do find yourself on the roads take it slow and give plow trucks extra space to safely operate. Berwyn Fire Company career staff and volunteers have been making preparations for the storm over the past week. This has included equipment checks, staffing planning for the Bridge Ave. and Valley Forge Rd. stations and coordinating with Tredyffrin and Easttown officials. GENERAL STORM SAFETY TIPS • Do not pass barricades, traffic cones, flares or caution tape. Seek an alternative route of travel. ARE YOU USING A GENERATOR TO POWER YOUR HOUSE? • Generators should be operated in well-ventilated locations outdoors away from all doors, windows and vent openings. DOWNED POWER LINES & POWER OUTAGE INFORMATION If at any time you see downed power lines on fire or arching, or suspect an unsafe electric condition; please avoid the area immediately and then call 9-1-1 and PECO at 1-800-841-4141. DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 to tell them your power is out. This is not an emergency.
