Firefighter Membership

• Ride on fire apparatus as part of a crew rendering aid and assistance to the public.
• Understand the chain of command while taking orders from an appointed officer regarding anything from fire suppression to hazardous materials responses to vehicle rescue.
• Attend various training programs offered in the region and sponsored by the fire company.
• Perform such skills as carrying and using ground ladders, fire hoses, and operating various power tools and rescue equipment.
• Work with other members in a team like environment in instances that are hazardous and stress-filled.

School Fire Membership (Junior Firefighter)

• School age members have been an integral part of the Berwyn Fire Company membership since World War II when the membership age was reduced from 18 to 16 years old.
• Community members age 16 or 17 gain experience and help participate in fire suppression & rescue.
• School members are restricted in some activities and time as deemed by child labor laws set forth by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
