| The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 11:15 a.m. for a brush fire in the Gateway Shopping Center in Tredyffrin Township. The 9-1-1 caller stated there was a large amount of grass on fire in the shopping center.
Engine 2-3 with Lt. Matt Valocchi on board, arrived on scene and reported a 100' x 10' area of grass on fire between the shopping center parking lot and Swedesford Rd.
The fire was quickly extinguished and did not cause any damage to vehicles or other property nearby. The smoke condition created by the fire spread across Rt. 202, but fortunately did not cause any collisions.
All units were clear of the scene before 12 Noon. Due to the recent heat wave and dry conditions accompanied by little rainfall, these types of fires can easily be ignited. Please use caution with discarding cigarette butts or other heat sources like charcoal at all times. |
