BFC Prepares for Winter Storm Stella |

The first responders of Berwyn Fire Company are preparing for the arrival of Winter Storm Stella. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued from Monday, March 13th at 8 p.m. through Tuesday, March 14th at 6 p.m. This storm is forecasted to bring 12-18 inches of snow to the area with winds ranging from 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The potential for power outages and downed trees and power lines is increased with this type of storm event. Please stay updated with the latest weather forecast and prepare accordingly. FIRE & ELECTRICAL SAFETY TIPS • Make sure you have working smoke detectors. HOW TO REPORT A PECO GAS/ELECTRICAL EMERGENCY If at any time you smell natural gas, see downed power lines on fire or arching, or suspect an unsafe electric or natural gas condition; please leave the area immediately and then call 9-1-1 and PECO at 1-800-841-4141. DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 to tell them your power is out. This is not an emergency. IS YOUR FIRE HYDRANT CLEAR OF SNOW? 'Adopt Your Fire Hydrant' and ensure it is ready to be used in case a fire strikes in your neighborhood. Firefighters utilize fire hydrants when the water on the fire truck, typically 500-1000 gallons, is used up and a sustainable water supply is needed to battle a fire. A 3 feet clear radius around the fire hydrant is preferred. Commercial and Industrial Building Owners...Your property may have Fire Department Connections (FDC's) attached to your building or somewhere on your property.
