TREDYFFRIN TWP., PA - On Wednesday, February 27th at 8:12 a.m., emergency medical services from the Berwyn Fire Company were dispatched to the area of W. Swedesford Rd. and Valley Forge Rd. for a motor vehicle collision.

With additional 9-1-1 callers reporting a subject trapped and a school bus involved, fire/rescue units were also requested to the scene at 8:14 a.m. Prior to this incident dispatch, a Berwyn ambulance had just cleared a medical call on Bair Rd. also in Tredyffrin Township.

First arriving personnel arrived to find a school bus and passenger vehicle that had collided and then ended up into several trees along the side of the roadway. Fortunately no children were on the bus at the time of the collision during the end of the morning rush.

The Paoli Fire Company was called to assist with their rescue unit due to the precarious positioning of the driver trapped in the passenger vehicle. A total of 5 career staff and 14 volunteers worked in tandem between Berwyn and Paoli to safely extricate the driver.

Both drivers of their respective vehicles were transported by Berwyn ambulance to Paoli Hospital. Firefighters remained on the scene to clear debris from the roadway as the school bus and passenger vehicle were removed by tow trucks from Tom Door's Exxon and Abel Brothers Towing.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided traffic control and investigated the cause of the collision. The Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company Fire Police also provided assistance with the road closure. All units were clear of the scene and the road reopened by 10:04 a.m. W. Swedesford Rd. was closed between Valley Fair and Valley Forge Rd. during the incident.
