BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company is proud to announce the opening of a fire/EMS substation located at the Neuman Professional Building at 1100 West Valley Rd. in the Wayne section of Tredyffrin Township.
This station will be staffed with a combination of paid staff and volunteers. It will house (1) rescue-pumper and (1) basic/advanced life support licensed ambulance in an ongoing effort to reduce response times and to improve the level of emergency services provided to the community. This action will also help to balance resources and personnel between Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships.
During the development of a 5-year community driven strategic plan in 2018, community representatives identified concerns revolving around staffing and response times. In addition, the Berwyn Fire Company has previously performed analysis with the assistance of the Chester County Department of Emergency Services to identify the optimal locations to place resources to improve response times based on several important factors.
This station is strategically located in the area served by the Berwyn Fire Company, near the Gateway Shopping Center off of Valley Forge Rd., which will be primarily focused on serving the residents and businesses in and around the northern portion of the coverage area in Tredyffrin Township that includes Chesterbrook, Glenhardie, Old Forge Crossing, and the neighborhoods along the Swedesford corridor.
A special thank you goes out to the Old Forge Crossing Condominium Association for their support of the Berwyn Fire Company EMS substation this past year. This was a significant contribution to enhancing the emergency response model in the community which will not be forgotten. This station officially closed on Sunday, January 12, 2020 as the transition was made to the new location.
This initiative was made possible due to the collaborative efforts of the Berwyn Fire Company, the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors and Senior Staff, and the Easttown Township Board of Supervisors and Senior Staff. The Chester County Department of Emergency Services also played a pivotal role in completing the EMS licensure inspection and with the provision of emergency radio communications. We also want to acknowledge the Neuman Family of Tredyffrin for their patience and for allowing us this excellent opportunity to better serve the community.
