Berwyn Firefighters Provide Mutual Aid at Radnor Brush Fire

BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was called at 6:54 a.m. to assist the Radnor Fire Company with a brush fire in Odorisio Park off of West Wayne Ave. in Radnor Township.

Initial fire units from Radnor arrived with smoke and fire coming from the wooded area. Radnor Chief 15 established incident command and began organizing the firefighting effort.

Shortly after Berwyn was dispatched, additional resources were also requested from Paoli, Newtown Square, Bryn Mawr and Manoa fire companies.

Firefighters from the various agencies worked together to extinguish the fire. Berwyn worked closely with the crews from Paoli and Manoa.

Berwyn Engine 2-2 and ATV 2 operated with 6 volunteers and 2 career staff. Berwyn was released from the scene at 10:25 a.m.

As firefighters extinguished the brush throughout the woods, chainsaws were also used to cut up several dead trees that were also burning.

Manoa (Haverford Twp.) Squad 56 was used to refill the water tank on Berwyn ATV 2 during the fire.

Berwyn Engine 2-2 laid several hundred feet of hose to a nearby fire hydrant to provide water to the scene.
