BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company, along with surrounding mutual aid resources were dispatched at 9:33 a.m. to the 400 block of Red Coat Lane in Tredyffrin Township for a house fire.
First arriving units encountered a fire in the basement of a two-story single family home. The lone occupant in the home at the time of the fire was able to safely evacuate.
The initial fire attack crew from Berwyn Engine 2-1 was able to quickly extinguish the fire, as additional personnel assisted with other tasks on the fireground.
Firefighters from Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS, Radnor Fire Company, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company and the air truck from Goodwill Fire Company No. 2 of West Chester rendered assistance.
The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided traffic contol between Thomas Road and Lexington Lane. PECO was also requested to check the gas and electric utilities.
The fire was investigated by the Chester County Fire Marshals Office and was ruled accidental in nature. The Tredyffrin Township Fire Marshal also provided aid at the scene.
Fortunately there were no first responder or civilian injuries. The family cat was rescued from a 2nd floor bedroom. |
